This is the bare-iron everyday skillet on this site, not a stainless or carbon-steel substitute. Next to the All-Clad D3 stainless skillet it wins on searing mass and price and loses on fond-and-deglaze sauces and rust-free storage. Care on this site
Lodge ships pre-seasoned. After cooking, wash with hot water (a little soap is fine), dry on residual heat, and wipe a thin film of oil if the pan looks dull. Do not soak overnight. Rust is a care failure, not a defect: scrub, dry, and re-oil. Avoid glass-top thermal shock.
