How We Research
Transparency is the core of our reviews.
Editorial Review
Independent, research-driven reviews by our editorial team
We do not run a physical test lab. Our reviews are research-driven: we compare what makers publish, what independent documentation shows, and what long-term owners consistently report. The goal is to cut through marketing copy — not to pretend we cooked with every pan ourselves.
What We Compare
Specifications & Materials
We read the manufacturer spec sheets and materials documentation — steel type and hardness for knives, core construction and cladding for cookware, wattage and capacity for appliances — and compare them across competing products in the same price band.
Safety & Standards
Where they exist, we check independent standards and certifications (for example materials certifications such as Oeko-Tex or GOTS, and published safety documentation) rather than taking a brand's word for it.
Verified Owner Feedback
We read across large volumes of verified-buyer reviews to surface the patterns that matter over months of real use: edge-retention complaints, motor overheating reports, coating wear, and cleanability. Aggregated owner experience is treated as signal — not as our own lab result.
Ranking
We weigh performance, build quality, ease of use, maintenance, and value, and favor the tool most home cooks will actually reach for. Our standout picks get an Editor's Pick label — a recommendation based on this research, not on a first-hand lab score.
